“Our goal is to make it easier for taxi drivers, café owners, pop-up retailers, and countless others living their passion of running their own business. Download our app, and any merchant can start accepting secure electronic payments in minutes” says Lindfeldt.
The app is relatively easy. Once downloaded, the merchants will undergo a quick KYC (Know Your Customer), and then they can start receiving card, and e-wallet payments immediately. A QR code receipt is administered at the end of the transaction, and merchants can utilize this digital receipt by creating campaigns to increase sales and drive business.
“We are excited to launch our Surfpay app with a number of micro merchants later this year in Europe. We know that there are a lot of opportunities to empower entrepreneurs, many of whom can only accept cash payments today."
Accompanying the launch of the Surfpay app will be our partner payments solution Surfpay Connect, geared towards the larger merchants. It is meant to replicate the online checkout experience, users will be able to choose from a wide-range of payment methods.
In Collaboration with Google
As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day… and neither was Surfboard Payments. In order to get this innovative startup off the ground they needed a little help from Google Cloud. Using services from Firebase for product prototyping, to Secret Manager for managing keys and securing systems against unauthorized access.
“We continually refine our environment,” says CEO and Founder Christopher Lindfeldt. “Surfpay uses Google Kubernetes Engine behind the scenes and this enables us to build great apps and also provides us the flexibility to scale as needed.”
Surfboard Payments utilizes Google Cloud byways of Google Cloud Armor, HSM, Cloud SQL, and Big Query which supports advanced analytic observation for an improved service delivery, and to drive future product development. And for further innovation Surfboard Payments is planning to work with the AI supported customer virtual agent, Dialogflow, to offer 24/7 support, in addition to so many other products and services that Google offers that keeps the company moving in the right direction.
“For us, this is just the beginning…” says Lindfeldt. “…What matters is building payment apps with scale, security, and performance in mind—all things supported by our strong partnership with Google Cloud.”
